Architect One understands the needs of educational institutions
Architect One has a proven history of excellence in educational architecture. Our diverse portfolio spans projects of all sizes, from small-scale renovations to multi-million dollar developments. With a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges of educational facilities, we are well-equipped to design and implement solutions that enrich the learning environment for your students.

Changes in the learning environment are inevitable
The educational world is in a state of change and learning environments must quickly and constantly adapt to these changes. Effective educational facilities offer flexibility, encourage critical thinking and creativity, provide opportunities for visual learning and promote communication and collaboration.

Kansas School for the Blind
In the fall of 2020 fall, the Architect One design team was awarded a three-year on-call contract with the Kansas State Schools for the Blind.
Vestibule - The AO team created a new path that joined three buildings that were completely separate. This new project allows people to move from one building to the next building without having to brave the elements.
Brighton Building Elevator - The existing building has a stairwell, but there is no easy way to get to the pool from the main level which is the main building entrance. We added an elevator to the project that makes the building and site more accessible, as well as allowing the school to hold events on site.
Johnson Gymnasium Capital Campaign - The AO team is facilitating the renovation of the Johnson Gymnasium.

Seward County Community College Allied Health Center
Architect One’s relationship with Seward County Community College began in 2012 when we were commissioned to develop a master plan for their growing campus.
One of the top priorities identified through the discovery process was a new allied health facility, which would allow students to transition from taking courses and labs in an old, outdated hospital to a new, state-of-the-art facility that provides a more realistic, hands-on experience. This 20,000 square foot building serves as a game changer for the community college, allowing students formerly attending class across town to be a part of their growing student culture.
The allied health center, designed to incorporate plenty of natural light and open flex spaces, houses nursing, surgical technology and respiratory therapy programs. It has been built to accommodate future expansions and additions as needed.

Kansas State Tracz Family Band
Kansas State University’s Marching Band, ‘The Pride of the Wildcats’ had used storage and practice space spanning various locations on campus.
When it was time to find a ‘home’ of its own, Architect One was contacted to plan with their team. The space available was an unfinished area below the West Memorial Stadium seating and green roof.
Through the discovery and conceptual phases, a program was developed that included an indoor practice and game film review area for 400 persons, including band members, Classy Cats, color guard and twirlers, with direct access to the adjacent practice field. The larger band hall renovation includes instrument/equipment storage, uniform storage, lobby, and a room specifically dedicated to the repair and maintenance of the band’s instruments. The Tracz Family Band Hall was completed in the summer of 2023.
